FALL 2026 Government Relations Internship: Plurus Strategies, LLC - APPLICATION CURRENTLY CLOSED
Plurus Strategies, LLC, is a Washington, D.C.,-based boutique multi-issue government relations firm aimed at providing more for our clients: more intelligence, strategies, access, advocacy, and expertise. Plurus represents a broad set of nonprofits, private corporations, and trade associations on a wide variety of issues before the federal government.
JOB SUMMARY
Plurus is currently accepting applications for its fall 2026 internship program from energetic, detail-oriented students with an interest in politics, government, advocacy, or law. Our interns support the firm's government relations activities by:
covering Congressional hearings, which will account for a majority of the internship when Congress is in session;
tracking legislation;
updating Congressional and agency staff contact lists;
monitoring presidential and Congressional campaigns;
drafting thought leadership pieces; and
researching business development opportunities.
Throughout the semester, interns can expect to:
gain practical work experience in public policy;
develop a deeper understanding of lobbying;
strengthen their resume;
prepare for the job market; and
network with professionals in Washington.
This is not a paid position, though Plurus is happy to coordinate with interns’ university institutions to ensure students receive academic credit for this internship. Additionally, Plurus will consider issuing an end-of-semester stipend of up to $500 contingent upon individual and firm performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a college or university where they maintained a minimum 3.4 GPA. Please note this position is not open to grad students. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED for this position, but please make note in your cover letter if you:
have previous Capitol Hill or equivalent public policy internship experience;
are familiar with “inside the Beltway” publications and industry tools such as Politico, Bloomberg Government, Leadership Directories, Congress.gov, and the Lobbying Disclosure Act Database;
have intrinsic interest and an eagerness to learn more about the legislative process and key policy areas, including the federal budget and appropriations, cybersecurity, defense and national security, energy and environment, financial services, healthcare, immigration, international affairs, tax policy, telecommunications, and transportation;
are available at peak times of congressional activity on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with schedules that can accommodate diligent hearing coverage across a variety of topics and drafting detailed reports on tight timelines; and;
are interested in exploring ways to support Plurus in strengthening its online and social media presence.
Plurus is seeking internship candidates who are comfortable working remotely to comply with firmwide teleworking policies. To maximize the internship experience, candidates should be able to commit at least 15-20 hours per week beginning mid-August through December.
In a virtual setting, we expect interns to be available during their designated 'office hours' throughout the week and have excellent communication skills. Interns should be reachable via email or text and prepared to fulfill their duties in a precise and timely manner during those hours. Exceptions to office hours can be made for circumstances such as exam periods, prior commitments, medical appointments, etc.
We understand that school is a priority so we kindly request that you provide us with your anticipated availability in your cover letter. If you have any questions about office hours or the expectations for interns, please feel free to discuss them during your interview. Upon successful completion of this internship, Plurus Strategies may consider extending the internship into the spring. While completion of the internship does not guarantee a future position at the firm, former interns are generally given hiring preference.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION
Interested applicants should submit a current resume along with a cover letter, 3–5-page writing sample, and fall availability in a single PDF to Varunavee Mohanraj AND Jessica Fernandez at mohanraj@plurusstrategies.com and fernandez@plurusstrategies.com. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until August 4.
